Purpose
The
Western States Research
Network is a consortium
of university affiliated
policy research centers
from eight intermountain
states: Arizona, Colorado,
Idaho, Montana, Nevada,
New Mexico, Utah, and
Wyoming.
Our
purpose is to promote
and facilitate collaborative
research on western
policy issues.
The
Mountain West is
unlike any other
region of the country. Great
cities separated
by vast open lands
of majestic mountains,
pine forests, and
whitewater rivers. Our
diverse and growing
population includes
descendants of native
tribes, early settlers
and new immigrants
from the population
centers of the coasts
and from other nations. Like
our land, public
policy issues in
the West are unique
and are largely misunderstood
or ignored by the
rest of the country.
The Western Policy
Research Network
connects policymakers
and researchers who are interested
in policy issues unique to
the Mountain West. Most
of these issues are not limited
by state borders and can be
more fully understood when
explored from many perspectives.
Members
We
invite all university
affiliated policy research
centers interested in
collaborative policy
research on western issues
to contact us and become
active participants in
this new policy research
endeavor.
